This is a scripture that God used to speak to HollyAnn Petree when they spur her and Addy’s Hope on in our efforts to reach the “least of these.” The Hebrew word for “poor” in this scripture does not just refer to a financial situation. Poor is defined as weak, depressed or helpless. In HollyAnn’s trips to Liberia, God has shown her each time that there are more and more “poor” people in need of the hands and feet of Jesus. Addy’s Hope is dedicated to being that to these people. Our motto is to build a better world one person at a time. The task is overwhelming when you look at all the needs, but Proverbs 29:7 states,” the righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor.” Since we are called to be righteous as sons and daughters of a Righteous God, we too are concerned for the rights of these poor.
Because of that concern, we have broadened the scope of what we at Addy’s Hope are attempting to accomplish through God’s guidance. We have set up the Brighter Future Scholarship Fund. We just broke ground on a new orphanage and school with Orphanage Project Liberia. We have promised the people of Marshall where our new orphanage will be located that we will provide a medical clinic as they expressed that as their greatest need. Currently, there are no medical facilities with in the area. By the time a sick person from Marshall reaches medical care, it is too late. Therefore, we have promised them that we will work diligently to raise the funds to build a medical clinic for the community. We are also talking with another organization about partnering to open a trade school. The majority of the men and women in the villages surrounding our new site have no education. We know that the answer to the indigenous people no longer being oppressed in their own country is education and skills. Therefore we are planning to provide adult education in the evenings at our school that will teach adults to read. Once the funds are available, we will build a trade school that will teach local young men and women a skill that will allow them to earn an income and support a family in order to have a brighter future for them and their family. One of our most exciting projects is David’s Peanut Butter House. You can click on the links to learn more about each one of these projects.
We just ask that you would prayerfully read through what God is doing at Addy’ s Hope and see if He would have you join us. Yes, we need your financial gifts to support these programs, but we also need your talents and your passion for God. We welcome people to contact us who might want to go on short term missions to the countries we serve in order to help us in the ministries. We are currently researching the possibilities of ministering in other countries in Africa. Please check back with us throughout the coming months to see if we have finalized those plans. If you know of a country in need of our services and have connections there, please don’t hesitate to call us. We believe in the function of the Body of Christ! If you have been led here, then maybe there is a connection God intends to use to further His kingdom!
